The Bunyan Foundation is implementing a project to provide interest-free loans to farmers in Yemen’s Al-Jabalayn region, aiming to mitigate the impact of recent floods and enhance agricultural livelihoods. The initiative, a collaborative effort between multiple organizations, focuses on supporting livestock and agricultural production.

Phase One: Al-Jabalayn Region

According to a statement by the Foundation’s official for the central region, the first phase of the project in Al-Jabalayn will distribute interest-free loans to 26 out of a total of 52 beneficiary families. Plans are underway to expand the project to neighboring areas.

Addressing Flood Damage and Improving Livelihoods

The loans are designed to help farmers recover from flood damage and improve their economic conditions through investments in livestock and agriculture. The Bunyan Foundation is also offering programs focused on rehabilitating agricultural lands, providing animal feed, and implementing rainwater harvesting projects.

This initiative is a partnership between the Bunyan Foundation,the local authority of the governorate,the Maqbana Multi-Purpose agricultural Cooperative,the Fourth Military region,and the agricultural Cooperative Union of the governorate. The project launch event was attended by key figures including Amer Al-Ahdal,Manager of the Agricultural Cooperative branch; Shihab Al-Alimi,Head of the Agricultural Department in the district; representatives from the military and security forces; and the mobilization department. Abdulrahman sinan, Director of the Maqbana District, and Haitham Al-Suhaili, Coordinator for Livestock in the Maqbana Society, emphasized the project’s importance in supporting rural communities and the livestock sector.

Both Sinan and Al-Suhaili highlighted the attention given to the agricultural and livestock sectors by revolutionary and local leadership, aiming to improve citizens’ livelihoods and achieve sustainable development. They underscored the significance of revitalizing agricultural lands in the region, known for its production of guava, mangoes, bananas, and sorghum.

Loan Repayment and Future Support

Sinan and Al-Suhaili urged the beneficiary families to diligently repay their loans, ensuring the continuation of support from donors in the future.

Al-Shamsi, Al-Mansaki, Sinan, and Al-Alimi inspected the agricultural land reclamation project in the Al-barisha area of Al-Gharra village, Akhdou’ Asfal district, Maqbana. This project, implemented by the Maqbana Cooperative, focuses on cultivating guava, mangoes, bananas, and sorghum.
