Wake Up & Stretch: A 10-Minute Morning Yoga Flow for Full-Body Energy
Starting your day with even a short yoga practice can dramatically improve how you feel – both physically and mentally. This gentle 10-minute sequence is designed to wake up your body, ease stiffness, and set a positive tone for the day ahead. No prior yoga experience is necessary; simply follow along and listen to your body.
Getting Started: Gentle Warm-Up
Begin by finding a cozy space on your mat. Close your eyes for a moment and take a few deep breaths, noticing the rise and fall of your chest. This simple act helps center you and prepare for movement.
LetS begin with some gentle movements to awaken the spine.
* Cat-Cow: Start on your hands and knees, aligning wrists under shoulders and knees under hips. Inhale as you drop your belly, lift your chest, and gaze upward (Cow Pose). exhale as you round your spine toward the ceiling, tuck your chin to your chest (Cat Pose). repeat this flowing movement several times, coordinating breath with movement.
* Thread the Needle: From your hands and knees, inhale and reach your right arm up toward the ceiling. Exhale and thread your right arm under your left, resting your right shoulder and ear on the mat. Hold for a few breaths, feeling a gentle twist in your spine.Repeat on the other side.
Core Awakening & Gentle Stretching
Now, we’ll move into poses that gently engage your core and stretch key muscle groups.
* Table Top Balance: Maintaining a tabletop position, slowly lift one hand and the opposite leg simultaneously. Hold for a breath or two, engaging your core for stability. Repeat on the other side.
* Downward-Facing Dog (Modified): From hands and knees, lift your hips up and back, forming an inverted V-shape. Keep a slight bend in your knees if needed, and focus on lengthening your spine.Pedal your feet out one at a time to stretch your calves.
Finding Grounding & Release
These poses will help you ground into your body and release tension.
* Low Lunge: Step your right foot forward between your hands, aligning your knee over your ankle. Keep your left knee on the mat. Inhale and reach your arms overhead,feeling a stretch in your hip flexors. Repeat on the other side.
* standing Forward Bend: From a standing position, hinge at your hips and fold forward, allowing your head to hang heavy. You can bend your knees as much as needed to release tension in your hamstrings.
* Child’s Pose: Lower your knees to the mat,bring your big toes together,and take your knees as wide as comfortable. Press your hips toward your heels and bring your chest down toward the mat. Focus on slowing your breath and allowing your body to completely relax.

* Seated Meditation: gently walk your hands in and slowly come to a comfortable seated position. Close your eyes and pause here for as long as feels good.
* Deep Breathing: Take several deep, conscious breaths, noticing the sensations in your body.
* Gratitude: Silently express gratitude for your body,your breath,and the prospect to nourish yourself with this practice.
