The amount of the 13th pension in 2024 is PLN 1,780.96 gross, i.e. PLN 1,623.27 net and is paid automatically. In addition to the “thirteenth” pension, a 14th pension will also be paid from 2021. Its payment will be made in September and its amount will be PLN 1,780.96 gross. The full amount will go only to those whose pension does not exceed PLN 2,900. PLN gross.

Who must pay back additional pension benefits? ZUS explains

ZUS has issued a warning for retirees who have not yet reached the standard retirement age and are supplementing their benefits. If they exceed certain income thresholds, they will be obliged to pay back their 13th and 14th pensions.

Persons whose entitlement to benefits was suspended as of March 31, as well as retired judges and prosecutors, are not entitled to the 13th pension. Similarly, people whose entitlement to benefits was suspended as of October 31 and those who receive higher income than the established limits will not receive the 14th pension. If 130% is exceeded average salary, both additional pensions are refundable.

Changes in the limits for supplementing one’s pension entered into force in March 2024. The Central Statistical Office reported that the average monthly salary in the fourth quarter of 2023 was PLN 7,540.36. When a retiree earns 70 percent this amount, his pension will be suspended. Exceeding 130% of the average monthly salary results in complete suspension of the benefit.

These rules apply to seniors who have not yet reached the general retirement age.
