Die Women’s Basketball Americas Championship 2021officially referred to as FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2021was the 16th edition of the Women’s Basketball America Championship and took place from June 11th to 19th, 2021 Roberto Clemente Coliseum in again Saint John, Puerto Ricoinstead of. Ten teams took part in the tournament, which consisted of a group phase and a subsequent final round.
Die United States defended their title with a 74:59 final victory over the hosts Puerto Rico successful and became American women’s champions for the fourth time. The American Rhyne Howard of the University of Kentucky was named the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament was awarded.[[1]
Since none this year Women’s Basketball South American Championship was held, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela qualified as representatives of South America according to their placement on the FIBA world rankings. Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador qualified through the tournament played in March 2021 Women’s Centrobasket. As usual, Canada and the United States were the only representatives from North America to receive automatic berths in the tournament.[[2]
The entire tournament was held in Roberto Clemente Coliseum in Saint John carried out.
In the preliminary round, the ten teams were divided into two groups and played in Round-robin tournamentmode qualifying for the final round.
Argentina was disqualified after several members of the delegation tested positive COVID-19 had been tested. All of Argentina’s games, including the two they had already played, were canceled.[[3]

The games in the final round were played in K.o.-System carried out. The four best teams in each group played the American champions and the other medal winners through the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.
