Alliance Theater to Host TYA/USA National Conference: A Hub for Innovation in theatre for young Audiences
the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta will be the vibrant center of the theatre for young audiences (TYA) world this June, hosting the annual TYA/USA national Conference. This important event promises a dynamic gathering for professionals dedicated to creating impactful theatrical experiences for young people.
A Showcase of Compelling Performances
You’ll have the opportunity to experience a diverse range of performances during the conference. These include innovative productions like Toddler Takeover, featuring shows such as Birthday of the World and Rhythm & Thread.
Further enriching the program are productions like DINOSAUR! and RAIN: for babies and their care, a collaboration between Filament Theatre and Threshold.
The Alliance’s own TYA productions will also be highlighted, including Into the Burrow: A Peter Rabbit Tale and The Great Ant Sleepover.Immersive experiences like LISTEN, featuring the Alliance’s teen ensemble, and the new musical Young John Lewis will also take center stage.

Beyond performances,the conference is designed to foster learning,collaboration,and advocacy within the TYA field. You can participate in 21 breakout sessions led by leading TYA professionals.
These sessions will cover crucial topics like building enduring university-theatre partnerships and leveraging theatre for very young audiences to create community impact. Three panels, organized by the TYA/USA research and Scholarship Working Group, will focus on advancing and diversifying research in TYA.
Celebrating Excellence in the Field
The conference will also celebrate outstanding achievements in TYA. You’ll enjoy the annual “Song Slam” cabaret, showcasing new musicals for young audiences, music directed by Deborah Wicks La Puma.
A joint awards ceremony with the Children’s Theatre Foundation of America (CTFA) will honor recipients of the Orlin Corey medallion Award and TYA/USA’s prestigious awards. These include the Harold Oaks Award for Sustained Excellence, the TYA Artistic Innovation Award, and the TYA Community Impact Award.
