The recently launched Manor Lords is being developed by a small team. Some players are already asking whether the medieval sim has been abandoned.

Manor Lords is extremely on April 26, 2024 successfully launched into Early Access on Steam. As the publisher Hooded Horse announced, the medieval simulation has sold more than a million copies since its release. The players also seem to be quite happy with the game. However, there are already users who are asking whether Manor Lords was abandoned because there was no update a few days after launch. “The best growth is very slow,” responded publisher Hooded Horse.

Some players want a huge team for Manor Lord

Manor Lord creator Greg Styczeń didn’t actually develop the popular simulation on his own, as is often claimed. He worked with a number of contractors, but always with a very small team. This should be different according to some Steam users. After some users asked if the game was abandoned, another player suggested that Styczeń should “immediately hire 50 people and start a huge company so that updates come faster.”

However, it wouldn’t work that way, said Tim Bender, CEO of publisher Hooded Horse, in a recent interview. “The best growth is very slow. It’s about keeping the core vision intact. That’s the meaning of Greg [Styczeń] and his work process. The result is that people [nach Updates] will scream, I think that’s practically guaranteed. There’s no pace of updates that doesn’t lead to people asking for more and that doesn’t lead to a bunch of people saying the ideal solution is to just hire 50 people.”

According to Bender, the plan is to “follow the path that [Manor Lords] “has made it so successful from the start” instead of trying to “create a huge studio out of nothing.” The developer Styczeń also decided not to publish a detailed roadmap for Manor Lords. They wanted to rather the feedback from the community collect and then decide which features should be implemented for the game.
