The fundraiser for Def Rhymz’s funeral has closed. A total of 56,330 euros has been raised to cover the costs of the funeral of the rapper who died on Sunday. Family and friends write in a statement that words are inadequate to express their gratitude.
The crowdfunding was set up on Monday, among other things, because the income of Dennis Bouman, as the artist was officially called, had decreased due to the many hospital admissions and he was therefore unable to perform during the corona pandemic. Bouman (53) had been living with a supportive heart for more than four years while awaiting a possible transplant.
“Thanks to your generous contributions, we are able to make all the necessary arrangements and logistics to bring Dennis’ last wish to life,” Bouman’s family and friends write. “Words are inadequate to express our gratitude for the way you are there for us. We would like to personally thank everyone who contributed to this fundraiser. Whether it was a large amount or small, every donation made a difference. Your generosity has warmed our hearts and given us the strength to continue.”
Bouman “was always a proud Surinamese and he loved his home country,” the statement continues. “With the proceeds from the crowdfunding, Dennis will receive a dignified farewell in the Netherlands, he can be transferred to Suriname and a funeral will be arranged there as he wished. Partly thanks to your donations, his family can travel with him to Suriname.”
