As 2017, the BBC relied on the Dutch MeteoGroup, later acquired by US-based DTN, for its weather data. However, this partnership is shifting back to the UKS national weather service, the Met Office, recognizing the value of its deep expertise and longstanding public trust.
BBC Director-General Tim Davie emphasized the importance of this move,stating weather is “the UK’s favorite conversation” and “hugely vital to all our lives.” He further explained the BBC’s world-renowned journalism will now work alongside the Met Office’s climate and weather intelligence.
