The benefits extend beyond simply adding more servers. The deal also allows Microsoft to “de-risk from a GPU perspective, given the high demand and high cost of chips,” according to Wong. In contrast, companies like Oracle, CoreWeave, Vultr, and Nebius are currently prioritizing serving end customers.
