Former England rugby international Tom Voyce has been identified as the man whose body was recovered from the River Aln near Alnwick, Northumberland. Search and rescue teams located him at Old Abberwick Mill following an extensive search.
Voyce, originally from Truro in Cornwall, enjoyed a distinguished rugby career, earning nine England caps and completing 220 appearances in the Premiership. He showcased his talent playing for prominent clubs including Wasps, Bath, and Gloucester before retiring from professional rugby in 2013.
Since 2019, Voyce had embraced a new chapter in Northumberland, relocating from London with his family. He transitioned from his financial role at Investec to establish Trevow vegetation Management, a business reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit.
I’ve found that many athletes successfully navigate career transitions, and Voyce’s venture demonstrates that adaptability. Here’s what works best when considering a career change: identify transferable skills, pursue passions, and embrace new challenges.
An inquest into the circumstances surrounding his death is currently underway at County Hall in Morpeth. Details are emerging as the examination progresses, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
