Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand emerged victorious at the Shanghai LPGA, overcoming a fierce challenge from Ayaka Katsu in a captivating five-hole playoff. The win marks ThitikulS second title of the season and a important rebound from recent on-course struggles.
A Nail-Biting Finish to Regulation play
The final round was filled with drama, as both Thitikul and Katsu traded blows throughout the day. Katsu nearly secured the win on the 17th, but a late birdie opportunity on the 18th slipped past the hole, forcing the extra holes.

Despite a commendable chip attempt,Katsu couldn’t convert for birdie. This left Thitikul with a straightforward putt to claim a hard-fought victory, a moment notably sweet considering her previous playoff heartbreak at the 2022 LPGA Malaysia.
Overcoming Past Challenges
This triumph is especially meaningful for Thitikul, following a frustrating four-putt meltdown on the final hole at the Kroger Queen City Championship last month. She openly acknowledged the lingering impact of that experience, but emphasized her determination to move forward.
“What happened on the last event was definitely still in my mind,” Thitikul shared,”but to be able to prove myself again this tournament feels like a dream come true,and I’m not carrying anything on my shoulder.”
Leaderboard Highlights
minjee Lee, the recent Women’s PGA Championship winner, finished strongly with a final-round 68, but ultimately settled for third place at 19-under 269. Jenny Bae of the United States, Miyu Yamashita of japan, and Somi Lee of South Korea tied for fourth at 17-under 271.
Defending champion Ruoning Yin finished in a tie for 26th.
