Flavor Flav Joins US Bobsled & Skeleton Federation as Team Motivator
Flavor flav, the iconic rapper and television personality, has taken on a new role: official motivator for the US Bobsled & Skeleton Federation (USABS) ahead of the 2026 Winter Games. This isn’t a first for the artist, demonstrating a consistent pattern of support for American athletes.
A History of Supporting Team USA
Previously, Flav served as the official hype man for the U.S. women’s water polo team during the 2024 Paris Olympics. He’s also shown a commitment to athletes beyond just motivational speeches.
Notably, he collaborated with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian – husband of tennis superstar Serena Williams – to provide financial assistance to discus thrower Veronica Fraley. This support came after Fraley publicly shared her struggles with rent payments.

Taking the Challenge to the Track
Flav’s involvement extends beyond motivational talks. He recently surprised USABS officials by expressing a desire to experience the thrill of skeleton firsthand.
Skeleton is a high-speed,headfirst sliding sport where athletes can exceed 80 mph. Initially, team members guided him to a safer, lower starting point on the track. However,the 66-year-old wasn’t satisfied with a cautious approach.
He requested to begin from a higher point,increasing the challenge and the speed. On his second run, Flav reached an extraordinary top speed of 67 mph.
Athlete Reactions: A Resounding Success
The impact of Flav’s visit was immediately felt by the athletes. Dan Barefoot, a US skeleton athlete, described him as “one of the coolest, most adventurous men” he’s ever met.
Barefoot was genuinely impressed by Flav’s natural aptitude for the sport. “It’s a sport that takes a lot of skill, but he made it look straightforward,” he noted.
Beyond his athletic curiosity, Flav’s energy fostered a sense of camaraderie. Barefoot observed that Flav’s presence led to unexpected connections within the team. “You had people who often aren’t talking to each other high-fiving and hugging because of the experience of being around him.”
The 2026 Winter Games are scheduled to run from February 6-22. Expect a significant boost in team morale – and perhaps some iconic hype – thanks to Flavor Flav’s unique contribution.
