president Museveni Highlights PDM Successes, Seeks Continued support in Amudat Rally
Amudat, Uganda - President Yoweri Museveni recently addressed a rally in Amudat District, showcasing the positive impact of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and urging residents to reaffirm their support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the upcoming 2026 elections.The visit underscored the government’s commitment to socio-economic transformation,notably in the historically marginalized Karamoja sub-region.
PDM Delivering Tangible Results for farmers
The President highlighted the PDM’s success stories, emphasizing how the initiative is empowering local farmers. Several beneficiaries shared their experiences, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness.
* George Matongo, a livestock farmer in Ngoma, is benefiting from the PDM.
* Dick Korea Ogila, a mango farmer from Abim, is now earning over Shs6 million per harvest.
* Amos Losengole, a goat farmer from Amudat, strategically invested his Shs1 million PDM fund.
* Emmanuel Lokong, a piggery farmer from Nakapiripirit, is expanding his business.
These examples illustrate how direct financial support, coupled with guidance, is fostering economic growth at the grassroots level.Museveni announced plans to further support farmers by providing vehicles to cooperatives. This will facilitate the transportation of goods to larger urban markets like Kampala, improving access and profitability.
PDM Disbursement & Regional Progress
To date, Amudat District has received Shs13.49 billion under the PDM. An impressive 97.2% – Shs13.1 billion – has already been disbursed to 12,118 households. This represents roughly 28.6% of the district’s total 42,310 households.
The President emphasized that the current peace and stability across Uganda, including Karamoja, Acholi, West Nile, the Rwenzori, and Kisoro, is the foundation for continued development. He attributed this progress to the NRM’s resilience over the past 40 years.
Securing Future Gains: A Call for Continued NRM Support
Museveni urged voters to safeguard the progress achieved under the NRM by continuing their support in the 2026 elections. He positioned peace as the NRM’s primary contribution and the bedrock of all other advancements.”If anybody asks you why you support NRM, tell them that in our manifesto of 2026-2031, peace is our first contribution,” he stated.
First Lady Reinforces the Message
First Lady Janet Museveni echoed the President’s sentiments, praising the people of Amudat and Karamoja for their unwavering loyalty to the NRM. She called for a 100% NRM vote to protect existing gains and accelerate progress toward middle-income status for both Karamoja and Uganda as a whole.She emphasized that continued NRM leadership is crucial for the accomplished implementation of planned programs.
Amudat’s Voting History & Future Outlook
amudat District has historically been a stronghold for the NRM. In the 2021 elections, with 43,647 registered voters and a 72.1% turnout, President Museveni secured an overwhelming 97.6% of the vote.
Registered voter numbers have increased to 58,203 as of 2025, with a corresponding rise in polling stations from 120 to 164. This expansion aims to ensure broader participation in the democratic process.
Key Leaders Rally Behind the President
The rally also featured addresses from prominent NRM leaders,including Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among,NRM Vice Chairperson for Karamoja John Baptist Loki,and NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong. All urged residents to remain steadfast in their support for the ruling party and consolidate the gains made under President Museveni’s leadership.
