Unrivaled 3×3 League Bolsters Roster with Development Pool & Announces Team Lineups
The highly anticipated second season of Unrivaled, the professional women’s 3-on-3 basketball league, is set to begin in January. This year promises even more excitement with 48 WNBA players ready to compete at the highest level. You’ll see familiar faces like co-founders Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, alongside All-WNBA talents kelsey Mitchell, Paige Bueckers, Alyssa Thomas, and Jackie Young.
Though, Unrivaled is raising the bar beyond its core roster. Recognizing the impact of potential injuries, the league is introducing a dedicated development pool. This innovative approach ensures seamless continuity and competitive balance throughout the season.
Introducing the Unrivaled Development Pool
These players will have full access to training facilities and resources, preparing them to step in and contribute when needed.Unlike last year, where fill-in players lacked solidified positions, this development pool offers stability and consistent support. Here are the six athletes selected for this crucial role:
* Hailey Van Lith (Chicago Sky guard)
* Aziaha James (Dallas Wings guard)
* Haley Jones (Dallas Wings guard)
* Emily Engstler (Washington Mystics forward)
* Laeticia Amihere (Golden State Valkyries forward)
* Makayla Timpson (Indiana Fever center)
Notably, all six players are 25 years old or younger, and three – Van Lith, James, and Timpson – are exciting WNBA rookies. They represent the future of the game and are poised to make a significant impact.
Building on Inaugural Season Success
Last season, Unrivaled successfully launched its inaugural 3×3 league. When injuries occurred, players like Natisha Hiedeman and Naz Hillmon stepped up, proving invaluable to their teams. Though, these players lacked the consistent support and roster security that the new development pool provides.
This year, Unrivaled is proactively addressing this, ensuring a more robust and reliable system for all athletes involved. You can expect a higher level of competition and a more dynamic league experience.
Unrivaled Announces full Team Rosters
Alongside the development pool announcement, Unrivaled revealed its eight club rosters for the upcoming season. The Breeze and Hive are exciting new additions to the league, while the remaining six teams return with updated lineups.
The league is committed to fostering a competitive environment and providing a platform for these amazing athletes to shine. You won’t want to miss the action when Unrivaled tips off on TNT Sports in January.
This season promises to be a landmark moment for women’s 3×3 basketball, and Unrivaled is leading the charge. Stay tuned for more updates and prepare to witness the next generation of basketball stars.
