DoorDash Driver Faces Felony Charges After Allegedly Contaminating Food Delivery
A Kentucky woman is facing serious felony charges in Indiana following an incident where she allegedly sprayed a substance onto a doordash delivery,causing the customers to become violently ill. On December 7th, authorities were contacted by a couple who reported experiencing severe symptoms – vomiting and a burning sensation in their mouth, nose, throat, and stomach – after consuming fast food ordered through DoorDash. Further investigation revealed a disturbing detail: the delivery bag appeared to have been sprayed wiht a red substance.
Fortunately, the customers had a doorbell camera. Review of the footage showed the delivery driver, after completing the drop-off and taking a photo, seemingly spraying a substance from a small aerosol can attached to her keychain towards the delivered food.
Detectives quickly identified the driver as Kourtney Stevenson, who initially claimed she was visiting her father and had used pepper spray to eliminate a spider. Though, investigators found this clarification dubious. considering the overnight low temperature of 35 degrees Fahrenheit, outdoor spiders in Indiana are largely inactive during that time of year and unlikely to be crawling on exposed surfaces.
Charges & Consequences
Stevenson refused to cooperate with an in-person interview. Consequently, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for battery resulting in moderate injury and consumer product tampering. She is currently awaiting extradition to Indiana to face these charges.
DoorDash has taken immediate action, permanently banning Stevenson from their platform. A company spokesperson stated, “We have absolutely zero tolerance for this type of appalling behavior.” They further emphasized their full support for law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.
