Wonderverse Oakbrook too Close Doors After Brief Run, Future Plans Unclear
Wonderverse Oakbrook, the immersive entertainment destination at Oakbrook Centre Mall, will be closing on December 22nd.The venue,which debuted as Sony Motion Pictures‘ first foray into large-scale immersive experiences,is preparing for a “transition to a new concept,” according to a recent facebook post.
If you currently hold Wonderverse Play Cards or certificates, you’re encouraged to redeem them by December 21st. Organizers invite you to enjoy the arcade, dining, and immersive experiences one last time before the closure.
What Was Wonderverse?
The 45,000-square-foot space, formerly occupied by Sears, aimed to bring your favorite movies and TV shows to life. It featured a blend of physical and virtual reality games, themed installations, and a full-service restaurant.Popular franchises represented included:

* Bad Boys
The experience offered attractions like the Ghost Trap Speakeasy,virtual reality adventures in the jungles of Jumanji,and escape rooms based on the Uncharted series. A dedicated arcade and weekly live performances added to the entertainment options.
