Investigation Intensifies in Alleged Bribery Case Involving Former Police Official
The Central investigation Bureau (CIB) expresses strong confidence in the mounting evidence supporting potential charges against a former deputy national police chief in a meaningful bribery case. Investigators believe the evidence gathered to date is robust enough to pursue legal action, though ongoing efforts continue to secure additional witness statements and crucial details.
Several aspects of the case still require careful scrutiny and further questioning, notably given the alleged bribery’s connection to prior investigations into extensive online gambling networks. This necessitates a meticulous approach to ensure a thorough and legally sound investigation.
Expanding Scope of the Investigation
The investigation isn’t limited to the alleged bribery itself. It has broadened to examine the potential involvement of a prominent university academic. This individual is accused of providing advisory services and allegedly working to undermine those critical of the former official.
Currently, summonses have been issued to three civilians as part of this expanded inquiry. The case is anticipated to be formally submitted to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) in the near future.

Law enforcement officials emphasize their unwavering commitment to applying the law equitably and without bias. Allegations Detail a Complex Scheme

This alleged attempt aimed to influence investigations related to online gambling operations. The NACC has officially agreed to take up the case, which encompasses allegations of bribery, abuse of power, money laundering, and the accumulation of unexplained wealth among associates.
