Jay Vine Sets Sights on 2025 Giro d’Italia and Grand Tour Ambitions
Jay Vine, the talented Australian cyclist, is gearing up for a pivotal 2025 season, with a clear focus on the Giro d’Italia and a continued desire to contribute to Grand Tour success. He recently shared his ambitions, outlining both personal goals and his commitment to team leadership.

The UAE Team Emirates strategy for May centers around supporting João Almeida’s general classification (GC) aspirations. Vine has a proven track record of successful collaboration with Almeida, having previously supported him in his third-place finish at the 2023 Giro and second place at the 2023 Vuelta a España.
Currently, Vine remains uncertain about whether he’ll be given the freedom to pursue his own GC ambitions in the Giro.He’s prioritizing his preparation during the Australian racing block and will address that question as the race approaches.
He acknowledges that team plans can change rapidly, and past experiences demonstrate his ability to adapt. Vine recalls being informed of his Vuelta participation just two days before the race began in San Sebastian, and wasn’t initially told he could contend for the polka dot jersey during that same race.
Looking Beyond the Giro
Following the Giro d’Italia, Vine remained tight-lipped about his plans for the remainder of the season. he confirmed he won’t be participating in the Tour de France next year, though he hopes to race it at some point in the future.
However, he hinted at a busy schedule in June and July, stating, “You’ll probably find out very soon, but I’m very busy in June, July.” He emphasized the need for a notable reset after a demanding first half of the season,which already includes around 50 race days.
Vine is currently focused on his Australian racing campaign, aiming for a strong start to the season.He’ll soon have a clearer picture of his early-season form as he competes this weekend.
