Understanding Spotify’s New Listening Activity Feature on iPhone
Last year, Spotify introduced a dedicated “Messages” section within its iOS request. Building on this foundation, the company is now launching two new features within Messages, aiming to make sharing your musical world even easier.
The Listening Activity feature provides a real-time view of what your friends and family are listening to,and it also empowers you to share your own activity with others. Importantly, Spotify prioritizes user privacy; you’ll need to grant permission before anyone can see your listening data.
According to Spotify, here’s how the “Listening Activity” feature functions:
- You can enable listening activity through your privacy and social settings, accessible via the side drawer next to the “View Profile” button.
- Once activated, your activity will appear in the sidebar’s chat list and at the top of message threads.
- If you tap on a friend’s or family member’s listening activity, you can add the track to your library, start playing it, access the track’s context menu, or react with one of six standard emojis.
