Italy Announces Women’s Ice Hockey Roster for Olympic Tournament
Italy has announced its 23-player roster for the upcoming Olympic women’s ice hockey tournament, which begins on February 5th. The team, nicknamed the Azzurre, will face a challenging schedule in Group A, competing against France, Sweden, Japan, and Germany. To advance to the knockout phase, Italy must finish in the top three of their group.
South Tyrolean Portrayal
The Italian squad features a strong contingent of players from South Tyrol, including Laura lobis (Kaltern), Franziska Stocker (Leifers), Anna Caumo (Brunico), Manuela Heidenberger (Oberbozen), and Sara Kaneppele (Tramin). Samantha Gius of Caldaro was sadly removed from the squad due to a knee injury sustained in October.
Match Schedule
Italy will open the tournament on February 5th against France. Subsequent matches include Sweden on February 7th, Japan on February 9th, and Germany on february 10
