FBI Investigates Potential Irregularities at Fulton county Election Hub
Union City, Georgia – January 28, 2026 – Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents are currently conducting a court-authorized search at the Fulton County Elections Hub & Operations Center, located at 5600 Campbellton Fairburn Road in Union City, Georgia. The operation has brought renewed scrutiny to the handling of the 2020 presidential election in the state, a contest narrowly won by Democrats.
the FBI confirmed the law enforcement action, but has released limited details regarding the scope of the investigation. Agents, visibly identifiable by camouflage vests, were observed entering and exiting the warehouse facility, wich serves as a central storage location for election equipment and office space for various Fulton County agencies.
According to a source with knowledge of the investigation,the search is linked to the 2020 election results. This advancement arrives amidst ongoing legal battles and heightened political tensions surrounding the integrity of the election. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has stated it is not involved in the current operation.
State Senator Josh McLarin, a Democrat representing the area, reported witnessing an FBI evidence retrieval team removing approximately 700 boxes of ballots from the facility. he voiced concerns about the potential impact on the ability to verify the 2020 election results should the contents of those ballots be altered. “If they are able to modify the contents of these ballots, then there is really no way to find out what happened in 2020,” McLarin stated to reporters at the scene.
A History of Scrutiny: Fulton County Elections Under the Microscope
Fulton CountyS election processes have been a focal point of controversy since the 2020 election. Former President Donald Trump repeatedly targeted Georgia as a key state in his claims of widespread voter fraud, even publicly urging state officials to “find” votes to overturn the results.
The U.S.Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the Fulton County board of Registration and Elections and Clerk of Courts Che Alexander last year, alleging non-compliance with a subpoena requesting access to 2020 general election materials, including used and void ballots, signature envelopes, and digital files. Fulton County recently responded with a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, the connection to the current FBI search remains unclear.
Prior to the FBI investigation, the Georgia state Election Board addressed allegations of missing documentation for thousands of votes during the 2020 presidential contest recount in May 2024. The board issued a letter of reprimand to Fulton County following a presentation and subsequent discussion. A recent shift in the board’s composition led to attempts to reopen the case, which have been met with resistance from the board’s lone Democrat and the chair, who maintain that multiple reviews have found no evidence of intentional wrongdoing, only “sloppy and poorly managed” procedures.
