Bremen’s Parliament Backs Education Reform Program

Bremen, Germany – January 30, 2026 -⁣ the bremen Parliament has requested the Senate to implement a ten-point education program aimed at improving the quality of education and strengthening foundational skills ‍like mathematics and German. The initiative seeks to⁣ bolster student competencies across the region.

The motion, brought forward by ⁢the SPD, Greens, and Left parties, received support from the ‍FDP.SPD education expert⁢ Falko Bries emphasized the urgency of the program, stating that it is unacceptable for a portion of students to fall below⁤ minimum standards. The CDU and Bündnis Deutschland voted against the proposal. The CDU argued the program ⁣lacked novelty, suggesting the issue lies not in analysis but in execution. Bündnis Deutschland expressed concerns about the absence ⁤of⁣ specific measures regarding necessary personnel and⁢ funding.
