Life Sciences Industry Shifts to Hyper-Personalized Patient Engagement with AI
A recent report from Lirio, in partnership with Sage Growth Partners, reveals a important shift in teh life sciences industry towards hyper-personalized patient engagement driven by Agentic AI and behavioral science. the report, titled “From Mass Messaging to N-of-1,“ highlights the failure of traditional, segment-based personalization and the growing investment in AI-powered solutions to address critical challenges in clinical trial engagement and medication adherence.
The Engagement Gap
Despite substantial investment in digital marketing, patient behavior metrics remain low. The report identifies two key areas of concern:
- Clinical Trials: 79% of life sciences leaders cite patient engagement in clinical trials as thier top challenge.
- Commercialization: 72% identify medication adherence as a persistent failure point.
The core issue, according to the report, is a reliance on demographic personalization – understanding who a patient is – rather than behavioral personalization – understanding why they behave in certain ways. Knowing a patient’s age and location doesn’t explain the underlying reasons for hesitancy or non-compliance with treatment plans.
“as organizations look towards direct-to-patient strategies, it is essential that they understand the cognitive, social, and environmental drivers,” said Chandra Osborn, Chief behavioral Officer at Lirio.
