Mega Cat Studios and INNO have launched a limited-edition bundle featuring a specialized Playtiles controller and seven retro-style games. The campaign is currently live on the Playtiles platform through September 18, 2026, with a goal of 50 units priced at €25 each.
The Mega Cat Studios and Playtiles Collaboration
The partnership brings together Mega Cat Studios’ library of modern retro titles with Playtiles, an electronics-free gamepad designed by INNO. The controller is credit card-shaped and attaches directly to a smartphone screen using “Gecko-Grip” technology, which prevents the device from sliding during gameplay. By providing real, tactile buttons, the controller offers an alternative for users who do not prefer using a touchscreen interface.
Because the device is electronics-free, it requires no battery, Bluetooth, or charging. The smartphone handles the processing, and games are cached locally for offline play. Users also have the option to cast their gameplay from their phone to a TV screen. Each Playtiles drop also includes digital manuals and art books to accompany the games.

The bundle includes seven games from the Mega Cat Studios catalog, spanning 8-bit and 16-bit formats. The selection offers a variety of genres, including puzzlers, platformers, and action-oriented fighting games. The titles are as follows:

James Deighan, CEO of Mega Cat Studios, noted that the collection features work from multiple developers, including Pie for Breakfast Studios, Retro Souls, and the Mangangá Team. Deighan expressed that the collaboration serves as a tribute to the industry, stating, “Pie for Breakfast Studios, Retro Souls, and Mangangá Team are exactly the kind of studios that make me remember why I fell in love with games in the first place, and getting to sit their work alongside our own Mega Cat originals on the same collection is the kind of thing 10-year-old me would not have believed.”
Campaign Details and PlaytilesOS
The crowdfunding campaign for the bundle is live now and will run for 60 days, concluding on September 18, 2026. The project has a goal of 50 units, with each bundle priced at €25. If the campaign fails to reach its target, backers are promised a full refund within one month of the campaign’s end. Orders are scheduled to ship worldwide approximately six weeks after the campaign closes.
Beyond the included titles, users gain access to PlaytilesOS. This software allows players to sideload their own GB and GBC ROMs, enabling the controller to function with a wider library of retro games. The games provided in the bundle are DRM-free, providing users the flexibility to export them to emulators or flash carts if they prefer.
