A baby died after drowning in a private swimming pool in Vigo, Galicia, on Friday afternoon.
Emergency services received the urgent call at 5:40 p.m. on Friday from a private citizen requesting immediate medical assistance for an infant in respiratory distress. The incident took place at a private residence within the municipality of Vigo, according to reports from the Galician emergency coordination center.
The 112 Galicia service immediately dispatched the Galician Health Emergencies Service (SUC-061) to the scene. National Police and Local Police officers also responded to the emergency call to secure the area and assist medical personnel.
Emergency Response and Medical Intervention
Upon arrival, healthcare professionals from the 061 service performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers in an attempt to stabilize the infant. However, the medical team was unable to revive the child and officially confirmed the death at the scene, according to the 112 Galicia report.
Due to the nature of the tragedy, the 112 service requested the deployment of the Psychological Intervention Group in Disasters and Emergencies (GIPCE).
Investigation and Cause of Death
Initial reports from emergency services indicate that the event appears to have been an accident. However, officials have clarified that a definitive cause of death has not yet been established.
