In the capital of Kyiv, tens of thousands of residents spent the night sheltering in subway stations as ballistic missiles struck residential buildings and industrial sites.
The assault exposed critical shortages in Ukraine’s Western-supplied anti-ballistic missile defenses. Kyiv has run low on supplies of U.S.-made Patriot interceptors. The strikes killed a 31-year-old man in Kyiv and wounded two others, while rescue operations continued as emergency workers searched for people trapped beneath rubble in multiple districts, including Sviatoshynskyi and Shevchenkivskyi.
Civilian Casualties Mount Across Kryvyi Rih, Lviv, and Kherson
The human toll of the nationwide bombardment extended far beyond the capital. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, an attack killed six people and wounded 10. Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the regional military administration, confirmed that children were among the dead, including a 6-year-old girl and boys aged 11 and 17 in the area of Kryvyi Rih. Their parents were killed in the same strike, though rescue workers pulled two other children alive from the rubble.
In the western city of Lviv, a cruise missile strike killed one person and wounded over 30, including children aged 6, 13, and 15, according to Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv regional military administration. In the Poltava region, a drone hit warehouses and killed one person, while a 56-year-old man was killed in an industrial zone in Kherson when Russian forces dropped three glide bombs.

NATO Scrambles Warplanes After Missile Crosses Into Poland
The overnight onslaught carried the conflict beyond Ukraine’s borders when a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile crossed into Polish airspace. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called the breach a clear demonstration that strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses would also guarantee wider European security. NATO scrambled warplanes after the missile landed in a rural area in Poland, causing no injuries or damage.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte described the incident as yet another reckless act by Russia and a dangerous consequence of its war against Ukraine
. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk termed it a very serious incident, though he noted that there were no reasons to believe Poland was the intended target. European nations remain wary that the four-year war could spill further into their territory.
Logistics Strikes and Retaliatory Supply Attacks
The latest aerial escalation follows a sustained campaign of Ukrainian strikes targeting Russian retail and logistics giant Wildberries, which lists military equipment such as drone components and body armor on its website. Recent Ukrainian attacks on Wildberries warehouses in the Moscow region killed five people and wounded 10. In apparent retaliation against Ukrainian retail infrastructure, a Russian drone struck a warehouse belonging to Ukrainian online retailer Rozetka in Brovary, located 20 kilometers northeast of Kyiv.
The Rozetka warehouse strike killed employee Volodymyr Melnychenko and injured seven others. Rozetka co-founder Iryna Chechotkina stated that 270 people were working inside the facility at the time of the attack. Nothing will bring this person back to life,
Chechotkina said in a statement, adding that the company would provide financial, medical, and psychological assistance to affected families while working to rebuild.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry maintained that its nationwide barrage targeted military sites, including air bases, arms factories, telecommunications facilities, and plants producing drone parts and guided missiles. The strikes coincided with high-level diplomatic efforts, following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s recent meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump and American defense executives to secure faster deliveries of air defense systems.
