BBC soap opera EastEnders has cast Christopher Colquhoun and Krysstina Frempong as Darnell Larson Jr and his daughter Grace, introducing a secret half-brother for Denise Fox as her acute myeloid leukaemia storyline unfolds on screen later this summer.
Christopher Colquhoun and Krysstina Frempong Join the Fox-Trueman Family
Albert Square is preparing for a major shake-up as the BBC soap introduces two brand new characters to the Fox-Trueman family. Actor Christopher Colquhoun will arrive later this summer as Darnell Larson Jr, revealed to be a half-brother that salon manager Denise Fox never knew she had.
The storyline kicks off when Kim Fox makes a shocking discovery that uncovers this hidden branch of the family tree.
Denise Fox Faces Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and Family Revelations
The arrival of new relatives comes during one of the most challenging periods in Denise’s life on the Square. Diane Parish’s character has been exploring a health storyline after receiving a diagnosis of acute myeloid leukaemia, an aggressive and fast-growing type of blood cancer, as detailed by Digitalspy.
Denise has already endured blood and platelet transfusions alongside a gruelling month-long stint in hospital for chemotherapy. While her daughter Libby Fox previously returned to Walford to support her, Darnell’s unexpected introduction takes on a different significance when he learns about her cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment.
Cast Members Share Excitement Over Walford Debuts
Both incoming actors expressed enthusiasm about joining the long-running serial. Christopher Colquhoun, whose extensive television portfolio includes roles in Casualty, Coronation Street, Fleabag, and Absentia, described the career milestone with reference to the show’s iconic audio cue.
“I am thrilled to be finally moving to Walford after all these years, and the welcome I’ve received has been phenomenal. Hearing I’d got the role was an absolute doof doof moment for me. Hopefully there’ll be plenty more of those to come!”

Krysstina Frempong, known for her appearances in Too Much and Essex Girls, highlighted her lifelong personal connection to the programme.
“I am extremely excited to be joining EastEnders! I have watched the show for as long as I can remember and have such vivid memories of gathering around the TV with my family, especially at Christmas, to watch all the drama unfolding on the Square, so it feels pretty surreal to now be a part of the action!”
