Vietnam’s retail energy and banking sectors have converged in a major digital push as Petrolimex, BIDV, and Visa officially introduce a co-branded card lineup linking consumer fuel purchases with mainstream financial services. The newly launched Petrolimex-BIDV-Visa card products—spanning both debit and credit options for individual and corporate clients—aim to accelerate cashless transactions and expand digital payment infrastructure across the country, according to official program disclosures.

The strategic rollout bridges the financial ecosystem of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) with the extensive energy and service network of Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex). By embedding financial perks directly into everyday fuel purchases and routine consumer spending, the partnership targets heightened transactional efficiency and enhanced digital utility for numerous Vietnamese customers.

Cardholders gain simultaneous access to the combined ecosystems of BIDV, Visa, and Petrolimex. Individual credit card users who pay their balances in full by the billing deadline are eligible for up to 45 days of interest-free financing. The initiative specifically caters to frequent vehicle owners, ride-hailing drivers, and regular shoppers seeking optimized rewards on daily expenditures.

Rewards and Cost-Saving Incentives for Individual Cardholders

Under the structure of the new co-branded release, individual cardholders earn a 1% reward point rebate on fuel purchases made at Petrolimex service stations. Online purchases charged to the credit card accrue a 2% point accumulation. Program terms cap these monthly earnings at a maximum of 250,000 Petrolimex ID points, equivalent in value to VND 250,000.

To encourage early adoption, issuing banks have waived the first-year annual fee and physical card issuance charges for customers who meet qualifying program criteria. All accumulated reward points deposit directly into the user’s Petrolimex ID (PLX ID) system account. Customers can subsequently redeem these points across the broader Petrolimex retail network and participating affiliate partners.

Operational Solutions for Corporate Fleets and Businesses

Beyond retail consumers, Petrolimex, BIDV, and Visa designed a dedicated corporate card tier aimed at transport, logistics, construction, manufacturing, and service enterprises operating vehicle fleets. The corporate financial tools integrate centralized payment structures, customizable spending limits configured by vehicle or individual driver, and real-time tracking of fuel transactions.

Additional corporate capabilities include streamlined debt settlement alongside automated electronic invoice retrieval and digital storage, designed to optimize cash flow management. Corporate credit cardholders earn a 1.5% reward point rebate on fuel purchases at Petrolimex stations, alongside a 2% rebate for dining and hotel expenditures. First-year annual fees are waived across the board, with subsequent annual fees waived conditionally for accounts maintaining an annual transaction volume of VND 50,000,000 or higher.

Petrolimex provides an extra incentive for corporate cardholders whose annual transaction volume reaches at least VND 5,000,000, granting fee waivers for both the second and third years. Meanwhile, corporate debit cardholders benefit from permanent annual fee waivers and zero physical card issuance charges under current promotional policies.

The collaborative introduction underscores a shared commitment by Vietnam’s banking and energy leaders to advance national digital transformation and modernize consumer payment models. Industry observers note that uniting banking capabilities with retail energy infrastructure increases transactional value per visit while expanding financial inclusion.

Customers can register for and manage the new Petrolimex-BIDV-Visa co-branded cards—commercially referred to as Petrolimex Pay cards—through nationwide BIDV branch offices, the BIDV SmartBanking mobile application, or directly via the official Petrolimex Card Portal.
