The earth shook again in the Mediterranean. On Friday around seven o’clock in the morning, Greek seismologists recorded strong tremors in the sea near the western shores to the south of the popular tourist island of Zakynthos. It was a so-called double earthquake, because the peninsula was hit by two strong shocks within a short time. The first of them had a magnitude of 4.3.

The earthquake was so strong that it was felt by the people of the whole of Greece. It was also recorded by people living in the capital city of Athens, or even in Crete, which is approximately 500 kilometers from the epicenter, the agency writes AP. The tremors were also felt in Turkey or Italy.

No significant damage or injuries are reported. According to the website Newsbomb.gr the earthquakes slightly damaged, for example, the monastery in Strofadia. Seismologists warn that it is not yet certain that another earthquake will not occur. “It’s too early to say if it was a major earthquake,” he told the portal Greek Reporter seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos.

Even devices as far away as the Czech Republic have experienced tremors. Seismographs Institute of Earth Physics Brno’s Masaryk University shows significant fluctuations before eight in the morning. He was also caught in neighboring Slovakia, he says iMeteo.sk. “Apparently we did not feel the tremors on our own, but our devices clearly registered them,” the website writes.
