After more than 25 years under the stewardship​ of Lydie and Patrick Baillie, the beloved bookstore “Aux lettres de mon moulin” in Nîmes,‍ France, is preparing for a new chapter.⁣ The Baillies, ⁢originally from the ‍Dunkerque region, are retiring ⁤and ⁤have found new owners to carry on the legacy of the self-reliant bookstore.

A Long‍ History of Literary Dedication

Lydie Baillie, 63, recounts their decision to relocate to the South of France in search of a career change in the cultural sector. Discovering the bookstore in​ May 2000 through a Minitel ‍advertisement felt like destiny. Patrick Baillie,67,emphasizes the bookstore’s deep roots,tracing its history back to 1819 with the building⁢ and surrounding boulevards. Previous owners had maintained the location as⁣ a bookstore for over 40 years, with‍ three generations preceding ‌them.

Passing the Torch⁢ to New Owners

​ The ​Baillies were determined to find the right successors, wanting to ensure the continuation of the⁤ bookstore’s mission.
