A new powerful weapon appeared in the arsenal of the Aerospace Forces of Russia – three-ton FAB-3000 aviation bombs, a video shows. published in social networks. The updated version of these ammunition, according to experts, is equipped with universal planning and correction modules (UMPK), which significantly increases their combat effectiveness and accuracy of hitting targets.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense published an announcement that mass production of the FAB-3000 had begun, and a video of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu inspecting a factory for their production.
The new FAB-3000 aerial bomb is twice as powerful as the FAB-1500, which, as its name suggests, weighs twice as much – a ton and a half. Days ago CNN commentedthat the even less powerful FAB-1500 was the bomb that “destroyed Ukrainian defenses and upset the balance of power on the front line.”
The Russian Armed Forces converted one of the main weapons of the Soviet era, the FAB-1500, into a planning bomb, i.e. a bomb on which a universal planning and correction module is installed, mainly with satellite guidance. FAB-1500 leaves behind crater with a diameter of 15 meters.
For comparison, the new FAB-3000 is designed to carry 1,200 kg. explosives. She is with radius to kill of 46 meters, and the radius of scattering fragments can reach 260 meters. Among the possible carriers of the FAB-3000 are the Tu-22M3 strategic bombers and the Su-34 front-line bombers.
