The design or color of the phone is often a dilemma when choosing it, and you often choose not only the color of the back cover, but also the material connected to it. From time to time, concept phones come out that can change the color of the back to light and make the device special. However, Infinix went further and decided to use a color E-ink display on the back of the phone, which gives a lot of room for customization. We had the opportunity to see a prototype with E Ink Prism 3 technology, which really impressed us.

E Ink Prism 3 on the back allows you to change the themes of the phone according to your mood. We have also seen a concept with a regular display across the entire back, but E-ink is far more practical due to its low energy consumption

Due to the fact that it is an electronic ink technology, the display does not shine in any way and thanks to the matte surface it looks very natural. E-ink, however, allows you to create different images on the back of the phone in colors that you will like or that will suit your mood. You don’t have to worry about energy demands at all. The back does not consume any electricity in an unchanging state, so it does not drain the phone in any way. They are consumed only when the image is redrawn to a new theme.

What surprised us a little at the stand is that E-ink does not occupy the entire area of the back, but only a reserved part. The lower third of the back is already classic. Don’t count on a sharp image either. The back is made up of 60 segments, the colors of which can be changed. For now, this is a prototype, but Infinix claims that in the future it should be possible to control the back using a mobile app and have simple graphics such as the time or a picture that describes your mood displayed on them.

It must be said that Infinix is not the first to experiment with E Ink Prism 3 technology. For example, in January at the CES fair, Lenovo showed it, which decorated the lid of laptops with it. For a phone where a lot of design is played and manufacturers are looking for ways to make phones special, it makes more sense from our point of view. The question, however, is whether Infinix will stick with the prototype or implement the technology in a commercially available phone in the future.
