The participation of Dutch artist Ziggy Krassenberg (22) in American Idol has come to an end in the most recent episode of the program. This is evident from a video that the makers of the show posted online on Tuesday.
“We have had discussions and cannot yet reach an agreement,” jury member Katy Perry begins in the video, after which she announces that Ziggy and a fellow candidate will have to enter an extra round to determine who can continue. “They both did very well,” Perry responds after the sing-off. “They both made the song their own,” adds fellow jury member Lionel Richie.
In the end, Ziggy draws the short straw, but Perry and Richie both emphasize that he is “a star.” “We love you,” Perry concludes. Ziggy himself says in the video that his heart is broken by the decision. “I worked so hard to become who I am,” he says in tears. “And I am so proud of myself.”
Ziggy also participated in Idols in the Netherlands and also tried out for The Voice of Holland and more recently for K2zoek K3. Yet he feels more at home in America. “My talent is not appreciated in the Netherlands,” he said recently.
