Al Hilal remains unstoppable and this Friday achieved another victory, this time against Al Ittihad (3-1), further isolating itself at the top of the Saudi Arabian championship, at the same time increasing its consecutive victories to 25 . Furthermore, the team of Jorge Jesus and Rúben Neves is just two victories away from equaling the world record for consecutive victories in men’s football.
After Al Nassr stumbled at home, around 24 hours earlier, against Al Hazem (4-4), Al Hilal’s players knew that a victory would mean an even more comfortable lead in first place. Even so, it was Al Ittihad, who did not have the Portuguese Jota, nor the superstar Karim Benzema, who opened the scoring, after 12 minutes, through the Frenchman N’Golo Kanté.
Al Hilal still responded in the first half, with Saleh Al Shehri (39′) restoring the tie before the break, making us forget the absence of usual goalscorer Mitrovic.

With this result, Al Hilal now has 62 points and is leading, more than alone, the Saudi championship. Al Nassr, second placed, has less… nine points. Furthermore, the team led by Jorge Jesus is now on a winning streak of 25 games and is just two more away from equaling the world record in men’s football, which is still held by the Welsh team The New Saints.
Now follows a new duel with Al Ittihad, for the Asian Champions League, and with Al Riyadh, for the championship, next week. On the 12th, Al Hilal will face Al Ittihad again, in the 2nd leg, and could even make history. If he wins these three matches, Jorge Jesus’ name will go down in the history of world football as the coach with the most consecutive victories in men’s football.
