Alec Baldwin, 66, left his hometown of New York for Los Angeles in 1983 and became known to the world after his participation in the soap opera “Knot’s Landing”. He appeared in seasons six and seven, which aired between 1984 and 1985 – and in connection with that, the actor chose to become sober.

– I have been sober for 39 years, Baldwin tells Paul Anka and Skip Bronson’s podcast.

He says that he mainly abused drugs. The favorite drug was cocaine and the 66-year-old believes that he snorted such a large amount that the line would be enough “from here to Saturn”.

– I mean, cocaine used to be like coffee. Everyone took it for days on end, notes Baldwin.

Then came the alcohol problems

When Alec Baldwin got sober from the drugs came the next problem. He started abusing alcohol.

– Because I stopped taking drugs, my drinking increased, which they say will happen. And that’s what happened. I just started drinking.

In the end, the actor stopped drinking alcohol as well.

– I don’t miss the drugs at all, but I miss drinking. I like to drink, he admits in the podcast.

He says he tries to meditate to deal with the cravings, but it’s difficult with seven children at home.

– Meditating with seven children is like playing table tennis on top of an aircraft carrier.
