Faithful to the original, the silhouette of the quadra is now enhanced by a high-tech ceramic bezel and case. This is not only Rado’s favorite material, but also the one that its engineers managed to develop well before other brands, in 1986. It was only fourteen years later that Chanel made high-tech ceramic famous by forging the cool luxury of the iconic J12. Let’s give back to Rado what belongs to Rado! Its quest for technological innovation has always been accompanied by stylistic exploration, of which the new version of the Anatom embodies the most recent episode. On the other hand, the curved and square contours of this timepiece were already key elements of the Rado identity in the 1960s. The love affair between the brand and shaped watches (read, other than round) has in fact began with the Manhattan, in 1967, and has continued until today with models named Glissière, DiaStar Executive, V2200 or True Square.

The Anatom revival benefits, of course, from several aesthetic and technical changes. The case diameter increased from 28 to 32.5 mm; the old lined decoration of the dial has disappeared in favor of a satin-brushed, polished and lacquered surface; the metal bracelet has become a rubber bracelet with a very similar integrated style, plus softness and comfort. Typical of the eighties, the quartz movement has been replaced by a high-performance automatic self-winding mechanical caliber, the R766, with a comfortable 72-hour power reserve and excellent resistance to magnetism, due to the presence of a hairspring. in Nivachron. However, it is the hypnotic “color map” of the collection that attracts and holds the eye. Designed to catch the light, the dials feature three vibrant gradients: flamboyant cognac, deep green or royal blue. Limited to 40 pieces, the Jubilee version shines in a complete black borrowed from the Anatom 1983. Eleven baguette-cut diamonds serve as indexes to illuminate it even more and justify a price which peaks at more than 11,000 euros.

The creation of a watch that is beautiful to look at and pleasant to wear, the fusion of sustainability and contemporary design, and the search for harmony between aesthetics and innovation remain Rado’s absolute credo. The Anatom brings it all together and thus proves to be one of the references of the “master of materials” best reflecting his know-how and his philosophy. Who is it intended for? CEO Adrian Bosshard’s response: “To someone who is independent and wants to stand out from the crowd.”
