Mercedes-Benz has sounded the alarm: electric cars will remain more expensive than similar LPG cars in the coming years. The result is that the German premium barque is yet another to hit the brakes on its plans for massive electrification of the range. More importantly, it assures that it is modernizing its LPG range deep into the next decade!

And if you remember, Mercedes’ plans called for the brand to go all-electric by the end of this decade, but with the caveat: “where conditions permit.”

In an interview with Bloomberg, CEO Ola Kalenius says that “it is almost certain that we will have a new range [двигатели] in 2027, which will take us deep into the next decade.”

Callenius believes that even Europe will probably not be ready for an all-electric model range by 2030. Customers are holding back on buying an electric car for a variety of reasons. The result is that Mercedes has turned away from its previous analysis, setting new goals.
