For the second day in a row, the lawyers of André Villas-Boas and FC Porto’s SAD were in contact, but according to JN’s findings, there was no opportunity for any member of the blue and white society to resign, or resign from their position, leading to co-optation of an administrator with executive functions, as suggested by the president-elect.
The idea would be for José Pedro Pereira da Costa, a member of André Villas-Boas’s list, to be co-opted into the SAD so that he could have decision-making power on many matters and begin preparing emerging dossiers, especially with regard to financial issues. It would be a way for the new Board to start working and save time, because it will only be able to take control of SAD, the entity that manages professional football, at the end of May.
There are, at the moment, two important issues: the agreement with Ithaka, which means the sale of 30% of the economic rights to operate the Estádio do Dragão for a period of 25 years and in exchange for 65 million euros. Another point that generates attention is the Academia da Maia, a project by Pinto da Costa, which means that SAD will have to pay the amount of 510 thousand euros by the 12th. This payment is another step towards the execution of the work whose total cost is 3.4 million euros.
In accordance with the Companies and Securities Code, the Board of the General Assembly of FC Porto’s SAD has 21 days, after the club’s new Management takes office, to call a meeting of shareholders and elect the new administration led by André Villas-Boas. This means that until May 28th, the elected president cannot exercise functions at SAD and have the autonomy to make important sporting, economic, financial and commercial decisions.
Therefore, in order to overcome this time gap, André Villas-Boas intends for manager José Pedro Pereira da Costa to be co-opted immediately, with executive functions, which would have to lead to one of FC Porto’s SAD administrators leaving or resign from office. But, so far, there is no understanding for this route to be implemented.
