Yvonne Lime, Actress and Child⁣ Advocacy Pioneer, Dies at 90

Yvonne Lime, a‌ versatile actress who appeared in classic‍ films like I Was a Teenage Werewolf ‌and the television ‍series Father Knows⁣ Best, passed ⁣away peacefully on Friday at the age of⁣ 90.⁤ While ​recognized for​ her work on screen, Lime’s enduring​ legacy lies in ⁣her dedication to philanthropy as the co-founder of Childhelp, a ‌leading organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse.

Born on April 7, 1935, in Glendale, California, Lime began​ her acting career in 1956, quickly gaining recognition with roles in The Rainmaker alongside Burt Lancaster and ⁣Katharine Hepburn. That same year, she secured a recurring role as Dotty on the beloved sitcom Father Knows Best, appearing in over a dozen episodes.

Lime’s filmography continued to grow with notable appearances in Loving You, Elvis Presley’s first major starring role, and leading roles in Dragstrip Riot and ⁣ High School Hellcats. she later starred alongside Michael Landon in the ⁤popular sci-fi horror film I was a Teenage Werewolf.Her television career spanned the 1960s, with guest appearances on popular shows including The Many‌ Loves of Dobie Gillis, The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet, The Andy Griffith Show, and My Three Sons.

In 1959, alongside⁣ Sara Buckner, whom ‌she met while working on Ozzie &‍ Harriet, lime co-founded International Orphans inc.,⁤ which later became Childhelp. The organization evolved into a globally recognized force ⁣in child abuse prevention and treatment. Lime and Buckner chronicled‌ their work and the⁣ impact ​of their organization in the 2004 book Silence ⁣broken: Moving From a Loss of Innocence to a World of Healing and Love, which was subsequently adapted into the 2005 ‍Lifetime television⁤ movie, For the Love of⁢ a Child.

lime married television producer Don Fedderman​ in 1969 and later managed his production company,Don Fedderson Productions. Fedderman predeceased her in 1994.
