Apple knows when to brag about new products on stage and when, on the contrary, to sell off the launch of a new product with just a press release. He chose the second option to launch two new MacBook Airs. There is nothing to be surprised about, only the chip and related technology are new on them.
In June 2022, Apple’s Air laptop model was one of the first to receive the then-introduced M2 chip. Now, its successor, the M3, is arriving in the 13- and 15-inch Air only four months after the launch of the processor.
“It has higher performance, faster Wi-Fi (Wi‑Fi 6E, editor’s note) and supports up to two external displays,” the company itself summarizes the changes in one sentence.
The arrival of the new product also marks the end of models that were equipped with the very first Apple Silicon M1 processor. At the same time, the company promises that the MacBook Air with the Apple M3 chip is up to 60 percent faster than the model with the M1 chip and up to 13 times faster than the fastest MacBook Air with an Intel processor.
The M3 is manufactured with 3-nanometer technology and in this notebook can use an eight-core CPU in combination with up to a ten-core graphics unit and a sixteen-core Neural Engine. Up to 24 GB of memory will be available.
The display of the u13.6 and 15.3-inch variants offers a brightness corresponding to up to 500 nits
There will be four color variants with interesting marketing names like Dark Ink, Star White, Space Gray and Silver. In addition, the first variant is supposed to use an anodized surface, which is supposed to limit the adhesion of fingerprints.
It will be available to early adopters from Friday 8th March, with pre-orders starting today.
The price of the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M3 chip starts at CZK 31,990, and the basic 15-inch model costs at least CZK 37,990. The older model with the M2 chip will be newly available at a reduced price starting at just under 30,000 crowns.
