Bad abrasion for Bayern candidates

Manchester United missed the jump to sixth place at Crystal Palace. Bayern candidate Erik ten Hag’s team suffers a terrible blow.

The English record champions Manchester United has suffered a serious setback in the race for a place in international business. Coach Erik ten Hag’s team missed the jump to sixth place due to an unexpected 0:4 (0:2) defeat at Crystal Palace and, as eighth in the table, still has to worry about their desired participation in a European Cup competition.

Before the game new rumors about ten Hag had emerged, the Dutchman has been linked with FC Bayern – who need a new coach in the summer. As Sky and the Bild newspaper reported a few hours before United’s nasty blowout at Crystal Palace, the Munich team is said to have contacted the 54-year-old’s advisors.

Ten Hag, who has a history with FCB, is going through a difficult season with the Red Devils. His contract in England is valid until 2025, but his future is still considered open.

TV expert from Casemiro horrified

His team had a run of four games without defeat at the London club of former Bundesliga coach Oliver Glasner, with a total of only six points.

Michael Olise with a brace (12th and 66th) as well as ex-Mainz player Jean-Philippe Mateta (40th) and Tyrick Mitchell (58th) sealed the guests’ eighth away defeat. After their fourth success in the last five matches without defeat, Glasner’s team can still hope for a place in the top half of the final table at the end of the season.

It was a painful evening for United especially the Brazilian midfielder Casemiro a bitter game. The former Real Madrid superstar had to play in central defense and had several misses.

Ex-professional and current TV expert Jamie Carragher was horrified by the national player’s performance on Sky. On the first Palace goal he said: “It’s just a run from Olise, he sees the space and just runs in. It’s chaotic, Casemiro, I don’t know what he’s thinking, Olise sees that he’s going to challenge him, he just runs past him, it’s that simple.”

Casemiro’s idea has nothing to do with the rather unusual position: “It’s embarrassing. He has to get off the field. Nothing is worse than Casemiro in central defense. Put Wan-Bissaka in the middle and put someone at full-back,” Carragher complained.
