United Arab Emirates (UAE) has affirmed it will not permit the launch of attacks from its territory against Iran, according to a statement released by the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign affairs.
The statement explicitly confirmed the UAE’s commitment to not allowing its airspace,land,or waters to be used for any hostile military action against Iran.
No Logistical Support Will be provided
The UAE has also rejected providing logistical support for any attacks,stating that “dialog,de-escalation,adherence to international law,and respect for state sovereignty are the best way to address the current crises.”
U.S. Naval Presence in the Region
The UAE hosts thousands of U.S. personnel at Al Dhafra Air Base, near Abu Dhabi, a key American military installation in the Gulf region. The U.S. has been increasing its military presence around Iran in response to ongoing threats. The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has been deployed to the region.
Ongoing Protests and Casualties in Iran
Protests erupted in Iran on December 28th, initially sparked by economic grievances, including a record devaluation of the Iranian rial. Demonstrations quickly broadened to encompass wider political discontent, drawing participation from hundreds of thousands, notably young people. Reports indicate a meaningful number of casualties.
