Barry Manilow Announces Lung Cancer Diagnosis, Postpones Shows with optimistic Outlook
Barry Manilow, the iconic singer-songwriter, has revealed he’s been diagnosed with lung cancer. Fortunately,the diagnosis came early,offering a positive prognosis and a path to recovery. He shared the news with fans, emphasizing a hopeful outlook and determination to return to the stage.
Manilow recently completed a run at the Westgate Las Vegas after recovering from bronchitis. A follow-up MRI, ordered by his doctor as a precaution, detected a spot on his left lung.
“It’s pure luck – and a great doctor – that it was found so early,” Manilow stated. This early detection is crucial for prosperous treatment.
Treatment and Recovery Plans
Currently, Manilow’s treatment plan doesn’t involve chemotherapy or radiation. Instead, he’s focusing on recovery with a comforting regimen.He jokingly described his approach as ”chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”
Doctors beleive the cancer hasn’t spread, and further tests are underway to confirm this diagnosis. He’s prioritizing his health and taking the necessary time to fully recover.
Rescheduled Tour Dates
As a result of his diagnosis, Manilow is postponing his upcoming arena shows originally scheduled for January. Though, he’s already looking ahead to getting back to performing for you.

This news comes after Manilow announced what were billed as his final US arena tour in 2025. he also completed a series of farewell UK dates last year, including a special residency at the London Palladium.
Reflecting on his connection with British audiences, he previously shared: “In 1978, The London Palladium is where I began my love affair with the British public. Thes shows will be my last full concerts in Britain and I wanted to end where I began – at the London Palladium.”
