The strategy is to speed up results. According to municipal management, the capacity is 200 analyzes per day. The city hall guarantees that this amount will be gradually increased.

The municipal secretary of Health, Danilo Borges Matias, argues that the city offers assistance to people. But he says that the population’s collaboration in actions to prevent Aedes aegypti is essential. “We monitor the situation in the capital daily, the number of confirmed cases and the pressure on care in the health units of the SUS-BH network that care for people with dengue symptoms. However, I reinforce again that everyone’s help is needed to eliminate, from inside houses, possible containers that accumulate water and could encourage mosquito breeding”, he said.

Dengue cases soared in the country at the beginning of the year. There are 364,855 probable cases and 40 deaths in 2024, according to data from the Ministry of Health. Another 265 deaths are under investigation.
