Urgent Call for Blood Donors in Soria: Save Lives with Your Donation
The Hospital Universitario Santa Bárbara in Soria will host a vital blood donation drive this Friday, January 23rd, organized by the Junta de castilla y León in collaboration with the Centro de hemoterapia y Hemodonación de Castilla y León and the Hermandad de Donantes de Sangre de Soria. This initiative aims to replenish critically low blood reserves serving the entire region.
Donations will be accepted in the training room, located on the ground floor accessible via Calle Doctor Fleming near the Rehabilitation Service entrance, from 8:45 AM to 2:15 PM. This campaign is specifically targeted towards hospital staff, patients, their families, and the wider Soria community.
Critical Blood Shortage Demands Immediate Action
The Centro de Hemoterapia y Hemodonación de Castilla y León has issued an urgent alert regarding dangerously depleted blood supplies across all blood types in the autonomous community. Currently, blood type 0+ is experiencing a critical shortage – designated as a “red alert” – requiring immediate donations. Other blood types – A+, A-, 0-, B+, B-, AB+, and AB- – are at a “yellow alert,” signaling an urgent need for donors in the coming days.Every donation makes a significant difference in ensuring life-saving treatment is available when and where it’s needed.
Who Can Donate?
Becoming a blood donor is a simple act with a profound impact. To be eligible, you must:
* Be between 18 and 65 years old.
* Weigh over 50 kilograms (approximately 110 pounds).
* Be in good general health.
* Have a good breakfast before donating, especially as the donation is scheduled for the morning.
