Mastodon, navigating a recent and challenging lineup change with the departure of Brent Hinds, demonstrated remarkable resilience. New member Nick Johnston seamlessly integrated into the band, even sharing playful moments with Bill Kelliher onstage. Blood and Thunder resonated with its signature power, proving Mastodon’s continued strength.
Gojira‘s closing set felt less like a statement and more like a victory lap. Bloodstock was among the first to recognize their headlining potential back in 2018, and they’ve since ascended to arena-filling status. Flying Whales and Another World were anthems of conscious intensity, needing little enhancement from the accompanying visuals.
