THE MIDDLE WAY – The new BMW M4 CS it sits between the normal M4 Competition and the limited edition M4 CSL produced in a limited series. We are in the presence of one thoroughbred sportswoman, with a dual soul, the one at ease between the curbs of the track and the one suitable for everyday use. Orders for the new M4 CS are expected to open by the end of May, while production will start at the German Dingolfing plant by the end of July.
POWER IS NEVER ENOUGH – The BMW M4 CS it is powered by a twin-turbo inline 6-cylinder engine 550 CV of power ee 650 Nm of torque through the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and the four-wheel drive intelligent M xDrive (uses an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the distribution of engine torque). This is an increase of 20 HP compared to the values achieved by the M4 Competition engine, achieved by increasing the maximum boost pressure of the two turbos to 2.1 bar. The performance are remarkable, with a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, and from 0 to 200 km/h in 11.1 seconds. The new one was tested on the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit BMW M4 CS recorded an official and verified time of 7 minutes 21 seconds and 989 tenths for the complete lap of 20.832 km. To ensure the right “soundtrack” we take care of exhaust system split, equipped with electrically controlled flaps, titanium rear silencer combined with two pairs of terminals painted in matt black.
SPECIFIC PIECES – From a dynamic point of view the BMW M4 CS uses adaptive suspension with shock absorbers electronically controlled, which can benefit from a specific configuration, and from steering electromechanical M Servotronic with variable ratio. The settings of the DSC stability system and M Dynamic Mode have been specifically designed to meet the needs of track driving. They are standard alloy wheels lightweight M forged with the specific V-spoke design, available in matt gold bronze or matt black (19 inches on the front axle and 20 on the rear), combined with track tires (optionally with ultra-track tyres) in the dimensions 275/35 ZR19 (front) and 285/30 ZR20.
IT IS LIGHTER – To be fun on the track it must also be sporty light. The carbon fiber roof used in the BMW M4 CS represents an example in this sense; with its reduced weight it “brings” the car’s center of gravity closer to the road, improving agility and cornering dynamics. The hood, front splitter, front vents, door mirror caps, rear diffuser and Gurney-style rear spoiler are also made of this lightweight material. Overall the weight reduction compared to the M4 Competition it is 20 kg. Inside we find the usual mix of sportiness and elegance. They ensure adequate support i M carbon seat upholstered in Merino leather, with a black/red color scheme and contrast stitching. Both the front door panels and the rear side trim are covered entirely in black leather.
A SPECIFIC VIEW – The BMW iDrive multimedia system, viewable on a 14.9″ touch screen, allows control of various vehicle functions and digital services, while the digital dashboard The 12.3” Curved Display features M-specific displays and is oriented towards the driver.
