A new crisis befell the aircraft manufacturer Boeing. This time, the main plane that was experiencing problems was the 787 Dreamliner.

Delivery of wide-body aircraft, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, is predicted to experience a slowdown. This is due to the lack of components used by the aircraft fleet.

Quoting CNBC International, Boeing produced around five 787 Dreamliner units per month at the end of last year and said in January that it aimed to produce up to 10 units per month by early next year.

However, it is felt that this target will not be met immediately. In a memo to staff at Boeing’s South Carolina 787 factory, 787 vice president and general manager Scott Stocker said Boeing was still facing a supplier shortage.

“To that end, we have conveyed to our customers that we expect slower increases in production and delivery rates,” he wrote in the memo, which was previously reported by , Tuesday (23/4).

Boeing will report quarterly results and will likely detail its production plans before markets open on Wednesday. The company had previously slowed deliveries and production of 737 Max aircraft after a series of incidents involving the plane.

Meanwhile, Boeing has separately been trying to ramp up production of the 787 Dreamliner after quality problems stalled deliveries for nearly two years, ending in mid-2022.

“We continue to take steps to improve the overall health of our production system, bringing your ideas to life to improve safety, first-pass quality, training, doing more work in sequence and ensuring our teams have the resources necessary to excel, Stocker added.
