A tense situation unfolded in Brooklyn Thursday evening when a man barricaded himself inside a hospital room with others present, leading to a police-involved shooting. Initial reports indicated the individual had self-inflicted injuries and made threats against those nearby.

Law enforcement responded to the scene at approximately 5:33 p.m., focusing their attention on the eighth floor of the facility. Upon arrival, officers encountered the man brandishing a knife in the doorway.

According to police accounts, repeated verbal commands were given over a three-minute period, urging the man to relinquish the weapon. He consistently disregarded these instructions and repeatedly tried to shut the door.

The situation escalated when the man advanced toward the officers while still holding the knife. Concurrently,both a taser and a firearm were deployed; though,the taser failed to subdue him.
