Anoop shares the details of the house built at Punalur in Kollam district.

I am expatriate. I have always been fond of houses in Kerala. When we built the house, we wanted it to be a terraced house with a rain-drenched courtyard, a long wrap-around porch. That is what has been accomplished here. Old and new facilities have been combined. Gate, CCTV, lights etc. can be controlled by phone from anywhere in the world. The courtyard is laid with Bangalore stone and artificial grass. Pearlgrass spread over the landscape. Fruit trees have been planted. The carport is made in the miniature form of the house.

Punalur is a very hot area. Many things are included in the house to prevent this. The wall was built using cut stone of the Munthia variety from Kannur. It prevents heat. After the roof was leveled, the truss was raised about ten feet and ran. In the meantime, the vacuum space is obtained, so the heat inside the house is less.

The pillars beautifying the veranda are from Bangalore. Porch ceiling is made of WPC.

Carporch, spacious porch, formal living, family living, patio, dining, kitchen, four bedrooms, attached bathroom, out house space… this is about 4000 sqft.

The interior of the house is arranged in a semi-open style. A lot of interesting multipurpose furniture is used in the home. Teak wood furniture and mural paintings make the living room beautiful.

Entering from the living room is the patio which is the soul of the house. It is also a gathering place for family members. An open patio that rains on also emanates heat from indoors. A sliding glass roof can also be closed as required.

The family living has a customized sofa, TV unit and puja space.

The bedrooms have a simple theme. The headside wall highlights have a different theme.

Handcrafted modular kitchen that opens up to a small dining space. Cabinets in marine ply with mica finish. Black Galaxy granite slabs.

The most beautiful part of the house is the backyard pool and entertainment space. It has out house, gym and rooms. An 8 KW on-grid solar plant has also been installed. In short, there is no electricity bill. Despite being one of the hottest regions in Kerala, the home and surroundings are filled with pleasant weather. Visitors say the house has a ‘resort vibe’. We are also happy to hear…
